This course focuses on regional differences for different cultures, and examines trends in current food or dietary behaviors amongst different cultural groups. American Studies
This course approaches American Studies by examining the United States as a global cultural actor. It explores how ideas of “America,” identity, and belonging are constructed, experienced, and challenged in different contexts, and how U.S. cultural and social structures shape inclusion and exclusion. Using a comparative and global perspective, students analyze cultural artifacts and institutions to understand how “America” is conceptualized both within the United States and around the world.

- Applicants must be currently enrolled as undergraduate students at a university outside the University of Connecticut
